RAF News & Updates















The RAF meets every Thursday night at 9:00 pm in the Union (check the link below or the easels in the Union for the room number). If you are at all interested in the club, we encourage you to stop by and check us out. Both pilots and non-pilots are welcome.



November 16th, 2009 - Schedule for field trip 2 has been updated agian. You know the drill by now...

November 11th, 2009 - Schedule for field trip 2 has changed. Please double check it and contact Alan Longhini (click on his picture on the left for email address) if any last minute changes need to be made. See you Thursday night!

November 9th, 2009 - Field trip 2 schedule has been finalized. You can access it here. Anyone flying on the first weekend is required to come to this Thursday's (Nov 12th) meeting. Cory will be doing a short talk on the finer points of flying the corridor. Also scheduled for Thursday is our featured film for the semester: One Six Right. Pizza will, of course, be provided.

November 2nd, 2009 - Thank you to all who participated in this weekend's Fly-By, to the pilots, drivers, volunteers, and especially all of the passengers! I think everyone would consider it to be a complete success, and we were lucky to have had at least one good weather day :-)

In other news, there is discussion to postpone the movie night once more so that we can properly address our second field trip of the semester, tentatively scheduled for the weekend of Nov. 14/15. Where would you all like to go? Show up at our meeting this Thursday to cast your vote! So, Pizza & Movie night will likely be postponed until Nov. 12; no more, I promise!

October 15th, 2009 - Sign-ups for the RPI Fly-By are currently underway! Signup today!

The RAF meeting tonight will focus on everything for the fly-by. So if you want to learn how to organize the event, come on by and volunteer to help out!

October 8th, 2009 - This weekends field trip to Keene, NH is currently still on and has ONE OPEN SPOT! Everyone going needs to check their e-mail inboxes the night before or the day of for any updates from the pilots. People on the field trip can view the schedule here.

In other news, plans for this year's Fall Fly-By are currently being finalized! The event dates will be October 17th and 18th from 10am to 4pm. Cost will be $25 per person, $45 for a group of two, and $65 for a group of three. Signups will begins soon! Check back next week for the official sign-up page!

September 26th, 2009 - The weekend's field trip to Keene, NH was a success! We enjoyed excellent weather, good food, and great company, and had an excellent time! The first plane was able to eat at Campy's on the airport, but the 2pm group realized that Campy's was closed and walked a hungry mile into Keene to Papagallos, which was excellent! The reviews from the first group gave Campy's two thumbs up as well!

September 24th, 2009 - The schedule for this weekend's trip is mostly finalized. You can access it here. Please double check that you are signed up at the right time (if not, send us an email). Lastly, make sure you check your email the night before your trip. A confirmation email will be sent out by 22:00.

September 21st, 2009 - For those of you who missed it, Air Force One decided to pay the Albany International Airport a visit!! If your interested in what a 747-200 looks like at KALB, click here!

September 17th, 2009 - Field trip dates have been uploaded! We will be discussing possible locations for our upcoming first field trip. Ground School Info: Ground School will be starting THIS SUNDAY September 20th. Everyone interested in participating MUST come to the meeting TONIGHT to pay. Flight kits will be handed out on Sunday. You must bring $360 in cash, check or a pen for a student charge.

September 9th, 2009 - Just a reminder that our first meeting of the school year will take place this Thursday, September 10th, at 9:00pm in the student Union, room 3602. Topics on the agenda are club background, possible destinations for our first field trip, and our pilot ground school. Hope to see you all there!

August 30th, 2009 - Welcome back! We just finished our Rensselear Aviation Experience for incoming freshmen as a part of RPI's "Navigating Rensselaer and Beyond" and are looking forward to beginning a new school year. If you are interested in aviation, check out our table at the Rensselaer activities fair this Thursday, September 3rd. Our first meeting will be the following Thursday, September 10th, in the school Union, room 3602, at 9:00pm. All are welcome!
