September 14, 2007 - At last night's meeting, we reviewed general club information and then continued to collect signups for the club, ground school, and the first field trip. The ground school will begin on Sunday, September 23. It will meet every Sunday night from 6 to 9pm, and will last for approximately 12 weeks. The cost for club members is $290. If you wish to sign up but have not yet paid the fee, please email me ASAP so we can arrange a time to collect your payment. Also, if you signed up for the trip at last week's meeting but did not attend last night's meeting, please email me to confirm that you are still interested. Official trip reservations will be made at next week's meeting when we collect the trip fee. If you do not pay the trip fee ($45 for passengers, more for pilots) at next week's meeting, you will lose your seat on the trip, so be sure to attend the meeting!

August 29, 2007 - I have finally gotten around to updating the web site with pictures and videos from the last two field trips to Block Island and NYC (at night), as well as the Spring RPI Fly-By. Check them out in the pictures archive. Sorry for the delay in posting.

August 27, 2007 - Welcome back! Hopefully everyone had a good summer. Due to the activity fair this Thursday, we will not be holding a meeting this week. The first RAF meeting of the semester will be held next week on Thursday, September 6, in room 3602 of the student union. If you are interested in joining the club or signing up for this fall's ground school program, please be sure to attend this meeting. Free pizza and drinks will be provided.

August 22, 2007 - Today, the RAF sponsored the "Rensselaer Aviation Experience" for the incoming freshman class as part of Navigation Rensselaer & Beyond. We hope that everyone enjoyed the program, and we appreciate any positive/negative feedback so that we can improve the program for next year.

March 15, 2007 - Registration is now officially open for the Spring 2007 RPI Fly-By. The Fly-By will be held on Saturday and Sunday, March 31 and April 1. Group discounts are now available to groups of three: $10 off, for a total of $50 for a group of 3, instead of the usual $60. Don't miss this great opportunity to get your friends up in the sky with you!

December 14, 2006 - All of the pictures from the Fall 2006 RPI Fly-By and the recent NYC trip have been posted in the picture gallery. Enjoy the holidays!

November 27, 2006 - Aside from a bit of unfortunately cloudy weather, last weekend's fly-by was a success; we flew a total of 81 people over the course of both days! If you participated in the fly-by, we hope that you will join us again for the Spring fly-by and, if you enjoyed your flight, we hope that you will encourage some of your friends to attend in the Spring as well. If anyone has any pictures from the fly-by that they would like to contribute to our collection, please email them to us. I will be posting all of the fly-by pictures within the next week or so.

October 11, 2006 - The members page has been updated again with all with all of the current club members. Please check to verify your information. I have also updated the events page again. If you are participating in the NIFA flight competition, please be sure to attend the meeting this week. If you signed up for the field trip, please be sure to attend next week's meeting. The Fall 2006 RPI Fly-By will occur on Saturday and Sunday, November 11 & 12. We will begin fly-by planning at the upcoming club meetings.

September 15, 2006 - I have updated the members page with all the members that have signed up so far. Please check to verify your information. I have also updated the events page with information about the upcoming club events discussed at last night's meeting.

September 1, 2006 - Welcome back! With the new school year comes a brand new design for the web site! Meetings will resume this Thursday, September 7, at 9 pm in the Union in room 3602. Be sure to attend this meeting if you plan on joining the club and/or enrolling in the upcoming ground school course.

April 20, 2006 - Officer elections were held at tonight's meeting; the new officers have been added to the left panel. I will be meeting with the E-board Monday night to propose the carry-over of our extra subsidy from this year to next year; if approved, we will hopefully be able to have 4 field trips next year, instead of 3. If they do not approve, then we will try to use our remaining field trip this year on Saturday, May 6.

April 15, 2006 - The pictures from the Spring 2006 RPI Fly-By have been posted in the picture archive. If anyone else has any additional pictures or videos from the fly-by, feel free to email them to us and we will add them to the collection. We hope that everyone who participated in the fly-by had a great time and we encourage you to spread the word about the fly-by to your friends!

March 23, 2006 - The Spring 2006 RPI Fly-By registration has been opened! Don't miss your chance to sign-up now! The cost is $10 for club members, and $20 for non-members. Immediate family members of students, faculty, and alumni are now welcome to participate in the Fly-By!!

February 25, 2006 - If you still wish to order an RAF sweatshirt or T-shirt, you MUST contact me by Sunday night; we are placing the order Monday morning. Sweatshirts cost $45, and will be heavy black hoodies with zippers, the letters RAF embroidered on the upper left corner on the front, and our awesome new logo (designed by Jimmy) on the back. T-shirts cost $12 each, and will simply be black T-shirts with our new RAF logo on the front. You can purchase both a sweatshirt and a T-shirt for the special price of $55. Don't miss this opportunity!

February 15, 2006 - Pictures have been posted from the NYC Winter 2006 field trip. Please come to this Thursday's meeting if you attended the trip so we can get all the money issues sorted out. We will also be discussing the remaining trip(s) at the upcoming meeting, so please attend if you wish to be involved.

January 22, 2006 - The NYC field trip has been postponed until Sunday, January 29. We will aim to leave around 10 am, but we will discuss all of the exact details at Thursday's meeting. Check out the events page for more details, and be sure to come to the meeting on Thursday if you signed up for the trip!

November 12, 2005 - The next club field trip will be on Sunday, December 4, and we will be flying down the Hudson River corridor through New York City! Check out the events page for more details.

November 7, 2005 - This weekend's fly-by was excellent; we flew approximately 80 people out of the ~100 available spots. We even got a brief 20 second segment on NBC's channel 13's 6 o'clock news! We hope that everyone enjoyed the fly-by and we encourage anyone who took pictures to email them to us so that we can post them on the web site! Click here to view the Fall 2005 Fly-By pictures.

October 23, 2005 - The Fall 2005 RPI Fly-By registration has now been opened to the entire RPI community. The cost is $20 for non-club members. We encourage all students, faculty, and alumni to sign up. For more detailed information or to sign up for the fly-by, click here or the above banner.

October 14, 2005 - At last night's meeting, we decided that the Fall 2005 RPI Fly-By will be on Saturday and Sunday, November 5 and 6. If the weather is bad that weekend, we will hold the Fly-By the following weekend. There will be more details posted in the events section soon.

September 26, 2005 - The trip yesterday went well; I hope everyone had a good time and will participate in future trips. Hopefully next time the weather will be better (we ended up flying to Bridgeport, CT, instead of Laconia because of bad weather to the Northeast). Check out the picture archive to see all of the pictures from the trip.

September 17, 2005 - Details for the upcoming field trip to Laconia, New Hampsire have been posted on the events page. If you signed up for the trip, please pay attention to any emails that we send out this week and please try to attend this Thursday's meeting.

September 7, 2005 - The first RAF meeting of the school year will be this Thursday, 9/08/05, at 9 PM in the Union (the room number is posted on an easel in the Union, most likely room 3602). We will be giving an overview of the club, answering any questions, discussing possibilities for our first field trip and discussing the fall ground school program. If possible, please attend this meeting so you can sign up for the club. There will be free pizza and soda for everyone. Hope to see you all there!

August 30, 2005 - The RAF will be present at the Fall 2005 Activity Fair this coming Thursday, September 1, from 6 to 9 pm in the Houston field house. Please feel free to stop by, we will be more than happy to answer any questions that you may have. The first club meeting will probably be next Thursday at 9pm; more details will be posted when we know for sure.

April 30, 2005 - The destination of our trip has been determined. See the events page for details. We will be meeting at the Union horsehoe at 9:20 Sunday morning, and leaving no later than 9:30, so if you signed up, don't be late!! Also, bring money for lunch as well as cameras to take pictures for the web site.

April 28, 2005 - The final meeting of the school year will be held at 9:00 pm tonight in the Union. Due to the weather, we will more than likely postpone Saturday's trip until Sunday, May 1. We still aren't exactly sure where we're going, so we are open to any ideas. The people that are currently signed up for the trip are Sam, Dave S, Tom, Steve, Dave J, and Charles. There are still two open spots, so if you still want to go, be sure to come to the meeting tonight!

April 21, 2005 - We are attempting to reschedule the control tower tour to Wednesday, April 27. Please send an email with your full name and whether or not you are able to drive to jacobe@rpi.edu. This weekend's trip has also been rescheduled to the following Saturday, April 30, due to weather. Officer election results:

April 21, 2005 - ATTENTION: There will be an important meeting tonight at 9:00! We will be discussing the upcoming control tower tour for Tuesday, as well as most likely postponing this weekend's trip due to the weather. If you plan to participate in either event, please attend the meeting! Also, we will be holding officer elections for next year, so if you plan to participate in the club next year, show up and cast your vote.

April 20, 2005 - The tour of the Albany control tower has been rescheduled to Tuesday, April 26, at 3:00 pm. We will be departing from the union horseshoe no later than 2:50. Please attend the meeting this thursday or email us if you plan to attend. Thanks.

April 19, 2005 - ATTENTION: The tour of the Albany control tower has been postponed until further notice. Unfortunately, the tower has not responded to our phone messages, so we have been unable to get a confirmation. We will try to reschedule ASAP. Sorry for any inconvenience.

April 15, 2005 - We will be taking a tour of the Albany airport control tower this Wednesday; if you wish to attend, be at the union horseshoe by 3:00 pm. We have filled all the slots for next Saturday's (April 23) trip, although we do not yet know where we will be going. If you signed up for the trip, make sure you attend next Thursday's meeting so we can finish planning everything.

April 14, 2005 - There will be a meeting at 9:00 PM tonight in the Union. We will be discussing the upcoming trip scheduled for Saturday, April 23. We will be taking 2 planes, so there will be room for 2 pilots and 6 passengers. The people that attended the last meeting and helped with the fly-by will be given the first available slots. Anyone else interesting in coming should also come to tonight's meeting in case there are any spots left. Also, we are planning to take a tour of the Albany control tower within the next week or two, so if you are interested in that, be sure to attend tonight.

April 7, 2005 - There will be a meeting at 9:00 PM tonight in the Union. It is very important that all members attend if possible because we will need to finalize all of the Fly-By plans and come up with a list of drivers for every hour. We will also begin to consider ideas for the last trip this semester, so if you are interested in that, please attend. If you cannot attend and will be able to help drive during the Fly-By, please email us exactly what hours you are available. Thanks.

March 31, 2005 - IMPORTANT: The Spring 2005 RPI Fly-By has been postponed one week to Saturday, April 9 and Sunday, April 10 due to the impending 100% chance of rain over the weekend. All current registrations have been carried over to the corresponding times on the new dates. If you need to cancel or modify your registration, please visit the Fly-By information page for details. If you signed up before, you are STILL signed up now. We apologize for the inconvenience.

March 31, 2005 - There will be a meeting tonight at 9:00 pm in the Union. We need everyone to attend if possible because we must finish planning out all the details for this weekend's RPI Fly-By! If you are not able to attend but will be able to help drive during the fly-by, please send us an email. Also, we still need help advertising, so be sure to help spread the word.

March 24, 2005 - There will be a meeting tonight at 9:00 pm in the Union. We need to continue to discuss preparations for the upcoming RPI Fly-By, so be sure to attend if possible. We can always use more help driving, advertising, etc.

March 7, 2005 - The Spring 2005 RPI Fly-By Registration has now opened! Don't miss your chance to register. Please be aware that Sunday, April 3, is the lottery room selection day. We recommend not yet signing up for a spot on Sunday unlss you are not participating in the room selection lottery. On March 28, after the room selection times are announced, we will open up three more spots per hour for Sunday so that people will still have a chance to register for the fly-by then.

March 5, 2005 - The Spring 2005 RPI Fly-By will be held on Saturday & Sunday, April 2 & 3. Specific details and information is now available. The RPI Fly-By is open to all members of the Rensselaer community. Registration opens on Monday, March 7, at 3:00 PM. Don't miss this unique opportunity!

March 3, 2005 - Meeting tonight, 9:00 PM in the union. We will continue planning for the Spring 2005 RPI Fly-By, so be sure to attend if you have any interest in participating. Also, don't miss Jeff's powerpoint presentation!

February 24, 2005 - There will be a meeting tonight at 9:00 PM in the Union. If you attended the NYC trip and have not yet paid, be prepared to pay tonight. We will also continue discussing the spring RPI Fly-by. Attend!!

February 17, 2005 - There will be a meeting tonight at 9:00 PM in the Union, as always. If you participated in the NYC trip, please attend tonight so we can collect your payment for the trip ($30 for non-pilots). We will also begin to discuss the spring RPI Fly-By.

February 10, 2005 - Check out the picture archive and the downloads section to see some of the pictures and videos from last weekend's trip through NYC. If you attended the trip last weekend, please attend the meeting tonight so that we can collect the fees for the trip.

February 3, 2005 - We discussed the final details for the NYC / NJ Trip at tonight's meeting. We will be taking 3 planes (2 172's and 1 152) with 10 people total. Everyone who is attending the trip will be getting a confirmation email tonight that has all of the details. Make sure you are not late, and bring a digital camera if you can.

January 28, 2005 - The NYC / NJ Trip has been scheduled for Saturday, February 5. We will be taking 3 planes and therefore have 12 available spots. All spots have been filled, but if you are still interested in going, let us know, and if somebody cancels you will be able to claim their spot. If you signed up for the trip, you should be getting a confirmation email within the next couple days (if you don't receive one, let us know). ALSO, everyone who signed up for the trip must either attend the meeting on Thursday, February 3, or email us in advance so you can keep your spot.

January 27, 2005 - ATTENTION: Important decisions regarding the upcoming trip will be discussed at tonight's meeting. If you signed up for the trip and wish to keep your spot, it is essential that you either attend tonight's meeting or, at the very least, send us an email. There may still be one or two spots available, so if anyone else is interested in signing up, please come to tonight's meeting.

January 25, 2005 - Welcome back! At the meeting last Thursday, we decided that the trip will be on this coming weekend, either Saturday the 29th or Sunday the 30th, depending on weather and availability. The people who attended the meeting have already filled the available spots, but if you are interested in going, let us know, and if anyone cancels you may be able to take their spot. The trip will be to somewhere in the NYC/NJ area. Come to the meeting this Thursday (27th) for more information.

December 13, 2004 - There will not be a meeting this week on December 16, but there will be a meeting on Thursday, January 20 after winter break. Be sure to attend that meeting because we will be discussing the next trip. Happy holidays!

December 9, 2004 - There may be a trip this coming weekend on either Saturday or Sunday, depending on the weather. If the weather looks good, which it currently doesn't, we will send out an email with more details about the trip. Otherwise, we'll have to wait until early next semester to take the trip, so be sure to attend the meeting on January 20 for more information.

November 18, 2004 - At tonight's meeting we finalized plans and signed up for the trip this weekend on Saturday (Nov 20) to the NYC/New Jersey area. Weather permitting, we will depart around 2:00 pm, eat dinner at Hooter's somewhere in New Jersey, and then return to RPI in the evening. More details will be emailed to everyone that signed up soon.

If you have any videos or great aviation pics that you would like to share please send them to Jeff or Tom... (Jeff)

November 15, 2004 - This past weekend's fly-by was a success! We flew a total of 50 people out of the 60-some spots available. If you enjoyed the event, we hope that you'll stop by during our weekly meetings and consider joining the club; we always welcome new members! We greatly appreciate the help of all the club members who drove and flew during the event. Be sure to check out the pictures in the picture archive (more will be added soon).

November 11, 2004 - At tonight's meeting we finalized preparations for this weekend's fly-by. If you have not already done so, we strongly encourage you to sign up; it's a great experience! It looks like we still might need another member to help with some driving on Sunday morning, so if you can help, please let us know asap. Special thanks to all the members that have volunteered their time to help make the fly-by possible. Hope to see everyone there!
